Terms of Service

The agreement

These terms govern your use of Operator. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them. Operator is operated by Operator Inc. in Canada.

What Operator does

Operator gives service businesses a storefront and tools to quote jobs, collect deposits, and manage bookings. You are responsible for your pricing, your services, and fulfilling the work you book.

Fees and plans

• Plans: a monthly subscription, with a balance of credits included each month. Credits pay for what Operator does for you: answering your line, chat and text conversations, and texts back to missed calls.
• No booking fee: Operator takes no percentage of the deposits or payments you collect, and nothing is added to your customer at checkout.
• Credits: you can buy more at any time. Purchased credits do not expire for 12 months. Plan credits reset each month.
• Current prices are on the pricing page. Accounts opened before these plans keep their original terms until they choose one.

Prices are in Canadian dollars. We’ll give notice of any pricing changes.

Payments and payouts

Deposits are processed through Stripe and paid directly to your own connected Stripe account. Operator does not hold your funds. You’re responsible for your Stripe account standing and any taxes on your earnings.

Deposits and refunds

You set your deposit amount, and you set your own refund terms with your customers. Operator does not set them for you and never issues a refund automatically. Payments go straight to your Stripe account, so refunding is your call: one action in your inbox returns the full amount to your customer through Stripe. It’s available from the moment your customer pays until the job is marked complete, and Operator does not support partial refunds. Disputes between you and your customer are between you and your customer; Operator provides the tooling, not the adjudication.

Acceptable use

Don’t use Operator for unlawful, deceptive, or abusive purposes, and don’t misuse messaging (respect consent and opt-outs). We may suspend accounts that violate these terms.

Disclaimers

The service is provided “as is.” To the extent permitted by law, Operator is not liable for indirect or consequential damages, and our total liability is limited to the fees you paid us in the prior three months.
